Repair Cafes

The Repair Café concept began in the Netherlands in 2009 and has since grown to a global movement of over 1,400 repair cafes operating worldwide. The Adelaide Repair Cafe and Unley Repair Cafe began with Fund My Neighbourhood grants in 2017, and there are now nine(!) regular sessions in South Australia.

Repair Cafes support the community to divert items from landfill, share practical repair knowledge, and reduce our collective impact on the environment. Community sessions can include repairs of electronics, clothing, jewellery, shoes, furniture and general items. Where possible, volunteer repairers take the time to explain the repair process, to share their knowledge and skills with participants. Repairs will vary with each Repair café, and depend on the skill set of the volunteers available. Sessions are usually free but donations are welcomed to help with ongoing costs. Below are details of the Repair Cafes operating across Adelaide, each run differently and independently.

Please note that sessions are delivered by volunteers, and session times and types of repairs will vary. Please see their respective Facebook pages or contact them directly, to confirm session times and further details as required.

Additionally, if you wish to volunteer at a Repair Café, please contact them directly via the details below.
