The Adelaide Sustainability Centre has partnered with TerraCycle Australia to act as a public drop-off point for their programs that specialise in the collection and recycling of hard-to-recycle waste.
We now accept waste for the following programs:
- Oral Care – toothpaste tubes and caps, floss containers, toothbrushes, toothbrush & toothpaste tube outer packaging – ANY BRAND ACCEPTED.
- Mailing Satchel – prepaid mailing satchel and padded mailing bags.
- Beauty Products – Cosmetics packaging such as used lipstick and lip gloss, mascara, eye shadow, bronzer, foundation, eyeliner, eye shadow, lip liner, and concealer packaging. Hair care packaging such as used shampoo and conditioner bottles and caps, hair gel tubes and caps, hair spray and hair treatment packaging. Skin care packaging such as lip balm, face moisturiser, face and body wash soap dispensers and tubes, body and hand lotion dispensers and tubes and shaving foam packaging – ANY BRAND ACCEPTED.
- Bausch + Lomb Recycling Programme – any brand of used contact lenses and blister packs. Please note that cardbord boxes are recyclable through regular Council recycling. Please do not include them when you drop items off for this programme.
In order to recycle this waste stream properly, please make sure all excess product has been removed (i.e. face wash and foundation). Additionally, if you choose to rinse your product, please note that it must be completely dry prior to dropping it off to us. Visit Terracycle’s website for further information and images of the types of waste that are accepted by each program.
Recycling can be dropped off at the Adelaide Sustainability Centre between 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday. You’ll find us on the ground floor of The Joinery, 111 Franklin Street, Adelaide, next to The depot collective cafe.
