Bus, bike, walk
I want to ride my bicycle
I want to ride my bike
I want to ride my bicycle
I want to ride it where I like
– Freddie Mercury, Singer/Songwriter
Reducing our travel time is smarter for the environment, our health and our pockets. The average Australian spends over $9000 a year on transport and most of that is on fuel. More than 70% of Adelaide’s residents drive to work on a daily basis and fuel makes up 35% of carbon emissions. By finding alternate methods of commuting to work we can all decrease our carbon footprint by 10%. Even something as simple as driving to your family holiday destination can add up, take a ‘staycation’ and holiday locally, exploring the exciting things on offer just on our doorstep.
What can I do?
- Make your commute simpler by choosing to walk, cycle or use public transport.
- Try carpooling with colleagues or car-sharing schemes for longer distances.
- Be car-wise, before buying find out more on the vehicle’s environmental performance.
