Water in urban environments is a valuable resource! ‘Water smart’ is the planning and designing of gardens, homes, streets and cities to ensure they make the best use of water in urban areas, while reducing harm to rivers and oceans, by capturing, filtering and using it locally.
Resilient East has launched a Water Smart campaign – look out for signs highlighting water smart features across eastern Adelaide (including The Joinery). The website has information, resources, and great YouTube videos to explain them!
To support this, the Adelaide Sustainability Centre have helped create a fun new bingo resource to encourage you to notice raingardens, wicking beds, permeable paving and more. Use the Bingo card to see how many water smart features you can find in your local area!
